Climate Change definition: The current rate of burning fossil fuels is causing the planet to warm in a way that threatens the global ecosystem.

Order a CD of Sunday morning's service for $2. Place orders with sound technicians for that Sunday's service. For previous  services,  place the money in an offering envelope with a note for which service and your CD will be ready for you by the next Sunday or as soon as possible.

promotion sunday

Promotion Sunday is September 5.  We will honor children who are entering kindergarten and those going into fifth grade during our service.  If you have a child in either of those age groups, plan to have them attend the adult morning worship service with you.

 

fall ministry kick off

Promise kicks off our fall ministries on Sunday, September 5 with fun activities for the kidz.  Kidz will make ice cream sundaes during service and release balloons (filled with helium) after service.

Everyone is invited to join us after service for the kidz balloon release in the front of the church.

 

kidz ministry orientation

Ms. Diane invites all parents with children age 4 years through fourth grade to kidz ministry orientation on Sunday, September 5 following the morning worship service.  Ms. Diane will share her vision and philosophy of ministry along with other important kidz ministry information.  Parents will register their kidz for Sunday School classes and have an opportunity to ask questions. 

Orientation should take no longer than 20 minutes and will be packed with helpful information for both you and your child(ren).

Pastor Mark would love to meet you if you are new to Promise Community Church.

Everyone is invited to this informal time of fellowship where you can find out more about what is going on at Promise.  Come and meet Pastor Mark and enjoy pizza and dessert at the church on Wednesday from 6:30 to 7:45 p.m. Childcare provided.

alpha

Alpha begins on Wednesday, September 8 from 6:30 to 8 p.m.  

Alpha is a highly effective ministry used world wide to introduce seekers to the basics of Christianity. 

People explore the Christian faith in a relaxed setting over 11 weeks.  Invite unchurched neighbors and family who are interested in exploring the Christian faith to Alpha and a free dinner at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday nights.

Talk to Pastor Mark if you have questions.

Kidz ministry for age 4 through fourth grade will do kidz alpha with a kid friendly meal and age-appropriate Alpha lesson.

men's ministry 

Men's ministry begins meeting the second and fourth Thursdays of the month from 6:30 to 8 p.m. on September 9. 

Men's ministry will work its way through R12, a video curriculum based on Romans 12.   The five lessons are: Surrendered to God, Separate from the world, Sober in self-assessment, Serving in love and Supernaturally responding to evil with good.

men's morning study 

A men's study on The Complete Works on Prayer by E.M. Bounds meets Friday mornings from 5:30 to 6:30 a.m. at Jeremy Banken's home at 945 Countryside Road in Waconia.  Contact Brian Ackermann for more information.

 

school supplies

We have free school supplies on the table in the foyer.  Feel free to take as much as you need.  Supplies limited.

30 hour famine

Student ministry raises awareness about homelessness and money for the Marie Sandvik Center on September 4 and 5. 

 

Students meet at the church at 11 a.m. on September 4 and finish with a home cooked potluck dinner at 6 p.m. on September 5.  Students will panhandle in Waconia, sleep in boxes in the parking lot at Promise, and fast the 30 hours to experience homelessness during the weekend. 

 

Students are seeking sponsors for each hour of fasting to raise money for the Marie Sandvik Center.  The Marie Sandvik Center is in south Minneapolis and provides for the spiritual and physical needs of the inner city poor.

student ministry

Student Ministry meets on Wednesdays from 6:30 to 7:45 p.m. at the church.  Student ministry is for grades 5 through 12.Contact Travis Berry for more information.

P3 is a time of prayer, praise and prophecy on the first and third Thursdays of the month. Tracie Garrison and Bill Adamson lead p3 this Thursday from 7 to 8:30 p.m.  Come expecting during this exciting Holy Spirit led time.

 

nickle dickle day

Women's ministry hosts a family tent on Nickle Dickle Day on Saturday, September 18.  Women are needed to volunteer for hour long shifts beginning at 7 a.m.  Contact Tracie Garrison to help with this servant ministry outreach to our community.

 

food shelf

Promise receives donations for the Waconia United Food Shelf the first Sunday of the month.  Bring your non-perishable food donations next week. 

 

kidz store

Kidz store will not be open next week.  Keep saving your buckaroos for October!
